Admissions Requirements for Traditional Students
To be eligible for admission, candidates must:
- have a minimum of 59 semester hours of academic credit (exclusive of physical activity, military science, dogmatic religion and vocational courses) from an approved institution of higher learning; and,
- complete the following minimum prerequisite requirements:

* Students enrolled in a quarter academic calendar must complete the required sequence of courses which are equivalent to University of Mississippi courses.
** Social and behavioral sciences include courses such as Anthropology, Economics, Political Science, Psychology, or Sociology.
*** Humanities and fine arts include courses such as history, literature, foreign languages, journalism, philosophy, religion, art history, music appreciation, or theatre.
**** Courses should include computer concepts, forms of I/O, recording data and programming languages.
***** Electives should be selected from a broad range of academic subjects such as management, business communication, statistics, additional computer science, and psychology. Courses listed for the junior and senior years should not be duplicated in the freshman and sophomore years.
Admissions Requirements for RHIT Progression Students
To be eligible for admission to the RHIT to Health Information Administrator progression program, candidates must:
- have an associate's degree and a minimum of 59 semester hours of academic credit (exclusive of physical activity, military science, dogmatic religion and vocational courses) from an approved institution of higher learning;
- submit documentation of a current RHIT credential;
- have completed at least one year of experience in the field of health information management;
- complete the following 30 hours of specifically designated coursework required by the Mississippi Institutions of Higher Learning, as well as at least 30 additional academic credit hours necessary to meet the minimum number of hours for full admission:

The program director and the dean must approve any exceptions to the four admission requirements.
