A student must complete a total of 120 semester credit hours to earn the bachelor of science degree. Up to 60 prerequisite academic credit hours may be transferred from a regionally accredited institution of higher learning and at least 60 hours must be awarded at UMMC.

There are twelve (12) required three-semester-hour courses in both Track I and Track II:

Track I
Upon completion of the Core, students will complete a four-hour capstone course, HS 451, Senior Directed Study for Health Care Practitioners. With the successful completion of HS 451, students will be awarded an additional 24 semester hours of professional transfer credit based on the coursework and other preparation required to earn their health care credentials. Counting the Core and the capstone course, Track I students will be awarded 64 semester credit hours at UMMC.
The disciplines eligible for professional transfer credit are the health care professions that UMMC offers or has offered in the past. Health care disciplines which require an associate's degree from a regionally accredited institution of higher learning are also acceptable, if approved by the dean.
Track II
In addition to the Core and nine (9) semester hours of approved electives, the student must complete the following courses:
