Admission Requirements

The entry level program
To be eligible for admission, candidates must have the following:

  1. Evidence of 40 hours observation in at least two physical therapy clinical departments or practices;
  2. A baccalaureate degree from an accredited college or university
  3. A minimum grade point average of 3.0 on a 4.0 scale for required courses.
  4. An overall minimum grade point average of 3.0 on a 4.0 scale. Applicants accepted usually have a higher than minimum grade point average.
  5. An official report of Graduate Record Examination scores.
  6. A resume.
  7. All application materials completed and returned to the Office of Student Services by the admissions deadline.

All required courses must be completed with a grade of C or better. Science survey courses designed for non-science majors are not acceptable for a required course. Normally, required science courses must have taken in the last ten years.

*Must be 300 level or above and taken at a senior college; only courses accepted for science major credit can be used to fufill this requirement. Student must have completed all specific pre-requisites for each 300 level science course taken to meet this requirement; associated labs, whether incorporated or offered separately, must also be completed. Students enrolled in an academic quarter calendar must complete the required sequence of courses equivalent to the semester credit hour requirement at the University of Mississippi.

**Must be taken at a senior college.

An interview with the Physical Therapy Admissions Committee is required prior to admission.

Admitted students will be required at the time of registration to provide written confirmation of Hepatitis B vaccination or that they have begun the Hepatitis B vaccination series. Students are responsible for vaccination expenses.

Admitted students must have current CPR certification, effective until the second summer semester in the program (online CPR courses are not accepted).
