Mission Statement


The mission of the radiologic sciences degree program at The University of Mississippi Medical Center is to provide an educational experience in a scholarly environment to help students reach their highest potential in technical knowledge and clinical competency in radiologic technology.

Accreditation Status
The educational program is accredited by the Joint Review Committee on Education in Radiologic Technology (JRCERT), 20 N. Wacker Dr., Suite 2850; Chicago, IL 60606-2901.

Tuition
The cost for a full-time Mississippi resident to enroll is $2,553.50 per semester during the 2008-09 academic year. The cost for a full-time non-Mississippi resident is $3,680.00 per semester during the 2008-09 academic year. Tuition is subject to change.

Clinical Facilities
Clinical educational experiences in radiologic technology are provided at the University of Mississippi Medical Center and in affiliation with the following:

  • G.V. "Sonny" Montgomery Veterans Administration Medical Center - Jackson
  • Methodist Rehabilitation Center - Jackson

Degree Offered
Students who satisfactorily complete all the requirements will be awarded the Bachelor of Science in Radiologic Sciences from The University of Mississippi. Candidates for a degree must have an overall grade point average (GPA) in University of Mississippi Medical Center coursework of 2.0 or higher on a 4.0 scale.

Registration
Upon being awarded the Bachelor of Science in Radiologic Sciences, graduates are eligible to sit for the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT) examination to become registered in the profession. For more information about the ARRT, please visit their website at www.arrt.org.
