Welcome From the Dean
Welcome to the website of the School of Health Related Professions, located at the University of Mississippi Medical Center in Jackson, Mississippi.
Since its inception in 1971, the School of Health Related Professions (SHRP) has provided health related education to over 2,500 students. SHRP offers baccalaureate programs in clinical laboratory sciences, cytotechnology, dental hygiene, health sciences, health informatics and information management, and radiologic sciences. SHRP also offers a Master of Occupational Therapy and a Doctor of Physical Therapy.
SHRP is committed to providing the best possible education to Mississippi's future health care providers. Teaching excellence and concern for the individual student are essential ingredients of our educational philosophy. We are here to serve the students as they pursue excellence.
SHRP has a state-of-the-art classroom and laboratory building. This building is one of the finest educational facilities in the country for health related professions. One of SHRP's important goals is to provide many more health care providers to practice in rural and medically underserved regions of Mississippi. We welcome all students from such underserved areas to consider our programs, as we believe there is a good possibility that you will return home to practice. If you are interested in a career which can provide you with opportunities to make a difference in the lives of your fellow Mississippians, whether in an urban or rural setting, a program at SHRP may well be your answer. I encourage you to call us at 601-984-6332, write us, or use the information request form provided under SHRP Resources on this Web Site to obtain more information about our programs.
We look forward to hearing from you.
